Vertex Capital does not advertise, does not pitch, and does not publish. But the firm still needed a website that two specific audiences would land on and immediately understand: the prospective LPs introduced through trusted intermediaries, and the operators of companies the firm was considering investing in.
The brief was to build a site that felt like an institutional letterhead — substantive, restrained, and a little intimidating in its quietness.
For Vertex, the right answer was the smallest possible website that still did the job. Eight pages. No marketing language. Almost no decoration.

01
Defining what NOT to say
Two-day workshop with the partners to identify everything a typical fund website says that Vertex would not say. The list was longer than the keep list.

02
Editorial visual identity
Emerald and dark slate. A single serif. Generous margins. The home page is one paragraph. We resisted every urge to add more.
-
03
Custom WordPress build
Bespoke theme. The "portfolio" page lists ten company names — no logos, no quotes, no fluff. The "approach" page is six numbered principles.

04
SEO without optimization
We did not target keywords. We made sure the site loaded fast, was indexable, and that the firm name and partners surfaced cleanly. That was the entire SEO brief.

“It reads exactly the way we sound in a meeting. There is nothing on it we would not say in person. That is rare, and it is the only reason we approved it.”
